The first week of school is done! Your students have done an awesome job handling the heat, rain, schedule changes, classes and much more. To help your student succeed please make sure they make beautiful music over the weekend and take part in some sort of exercise every day.
All students should have the following songs passed off by the end of this week: Fight Song School Song Star Spangled Banner Bloom- Beginning to Letter J Bloom- Letter J to Letter M
If you are interested in finding out what your student has passed off, we have a couple of options for you. There are pass-off charts located in the band hall by section or email us and we will be happy to tell you what assignments your student has completed.
The rehearsal schedule for this week is as follows: Monday-3:15-5:45 Tuesday-5:30-8:00 Wednesday-3:15-5:45 Thursday- Game vs. Cinco Ranch at Berry Center (Home) 7:00 PM Friday- No Rehearsal (Enjoy the long weekend!)
All rehearsals are mandatory; failure to attend rehearsals will effect your student's participation. The fall schedule can be found on the band website at www.jvhsband.org.
Attached is the schedule for the 1st game and a handout about game day procedures.
Students will need to bring all supplies for the game to school. Students are not allowed to leave campus prior to game day rehearsal on Thursday. It would be a great idea to layout all supplies the night before.
We will be wearing our black show shirt, performance shorts, long black band socks and band shoes to the football game. We will not be wearing our standard uniform. Thank you to Mr. Funk and our administration for allowing us to wear our "summer uniform" to the first game.
If your student forgot to turn in their pre-game meal form and money please have them bring it to school on Monday.
Remind 101 is the text-messaging program the band uses. Text @9f8632 to the number 81010. If anyone has trouble with 81010, they can try texting @9f8632 to 832.497.2038
In addition to the weekly emails, we will also send out text messages through out the school year. We will also try to notify you when we will be leaving events and heading back to school.
The final payment of band fees is due September 2. Account balances can be found on the charms website. Payments can be made through the Paypal feature on charms or to a band director.
